My daughters are really showing an interest in being with me in the kitchen lately, and I’ve figured out that the way to nurture that is to have them help me make the “fun” stuff like desserts or do the fun parts like spreading sauce or sprinkling toppings. Over time they’ve come to not mind the less-than-exciting things like stirring or cleaning up as we go. I really don’t want them to view it as a chore, and so far, so good!

Chocolate Chip Pancakes for Pancake Week

This week is International Pancake Week, and to have a little fun I did some searching for chocolate pancake videos. The one above shows how to make Chocolate Chip Pancakes from scratch and gives you the complete ingredient list at the end.
When I make chocolate chip pancakes for my kids I usually like to use the Nestle mini chips. I find I get more coverage and they don’t tend to melt to the pan as much as standard chips do.

How To Make A Chocolate Pie

This series of short videos shows all the steps involved in making a chocolate pie. You know, there are few words more beautiful together than those two.
Rob Kingsbury is the owner of Kingsbury Chocolates in Virginia and walks you through everything from preparing and baking the pie crust to getting the chocolate filling ready to go and topping it with real whipped cream. The best tip I walked away with was his idea to pre-melt the chocolate before adding it to the liquids!
