There are scores of variations on the chocolate chip cookie recipe, but the best one, the very best, is still the original Toll House chocolate chip cookie recipe.
Ingredients:
2-1/4 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla
2 eggs
2 cups chocolate chips
1 cup chopped nuts
Preheat oven to 375F. In a small bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt. In a large bowl, beat butter, sugar, brown sugar and vanilla until creamy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts. Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake for 10 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes, then remove to wire racks to cool completely.
