Poll: Which Willy Wonka?

The recent release of Warner Brothers’ Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory to Blu-Ray got me thinking — which Willy Wonky and the Chocolate Factory (or Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) do you prefer?

Both adaptations of the book by Roald Dahl have their merits, of course, but personally, I prefer the current remake with Johnny Depp. I grew up with the Gene Wilder original from the 70’s and to be honest there was just always something about it that creeped me out. It was great fodder for the imagination (a chocolate and candy factory all to yourself? Yes, please!) but I’d only watch it when I had to (meaning when the only TV in the house was occupied by a sibling watching it).

Anyway, which interpretation do you prefer? The now-classic 1971 film starring Gene Wilder, or the more recent 2005 film starring Johnny Depp?

Chocolate Zen: Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookies

This week’s chocolate zen is a batch of chocolate peanut butter chip cookies I made last night.

I added some chopped walnuts to them and I might need to send the rest in to work with my husband tomorrow — these things are dangerous!

This week’s Chocolate Zen is a delicious-looking hot chocolate. I’m not sure why it’s in a glass but it sure looks pretty!

Now if you’ll excuse me, I think I need to make a Starbucks run for another Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate (get it with a shot of espresso – it’s amazing! Thanks for the idea, 6thFloor!).
