I’m all for eating chocolate, of course, but it can also be fun to decorate with it (temporarily!) for the upcoming holidays!
This gigantic chocolate turkey from Bissinger’s is touted as a “centerpiece” decoration for your Thanksgiving table. The semi-solid piece is made from milk chocolate with some nice darker chocolate accents, and stands at nine inches tall by 8.5 inches wide. It’s also gluten-free!
Though the real turkey and sides are the stars of the meal, I have to admit I’d be eyeballing the chocolate version if it were on my table!
Bissinger’s also has a lot of other Thanksgiving-related chocolate and …read more
Celebrate Day of the Dead with Chocolate

El Día de los Muertos, or The Day of the Dead, is an ancient holiday celebrated in Mexico and by Latin Americans that honors those who have died.
The holiday is usually celebrated over two days, November 1st and 2nd, and it’s believed that over these two days it’s easier for the souls of the dead to communicate with those still living. A common symbol of the holiday is the skull, and celebrants use sugar and chocolate skulls to give as gifts to both the living and the dead, usually inscribed with the name of a deceased loved one on the …read more

Cookie exchange parties have become pretty popular over the last few years. Party guests are typically instructed to make their favorite batch of cookies (making sure there are enough for each of the other guests invited to have at least one), and then everyone meets up at the host’s place to exchange cookies and have a fun time.
This holiday season, Hershey’s Kisses is inviting 1,000 holiday bakers and entertainers to celebrate by hosting a Hershey’s Kisses Cookie Exchange Party!
But it gets even sweeter: now through November 15, party hosts can even apply to have their cookie exchange sponsored by Hershey’s …read more

Hershey’s Kisses are one treat that everyone seems to enjoy, but even though they are wrapped they haven’t always been easy to give for Halloween. The silver foil wrap is easily manipulated, making it easy to come loose in a bag full of candy thus causing parents a bit of concern.
Hershey’s has finally come out with individual packs of Kisses, perfect for giving out for trick-or-treating. They’re also dressing up their other treats for the holiday, like black and orange foil wrapped Kisses:
There are also individually wrapped Reese’s Peanut Butter cups shaped as pumpkins (my kids love these in their …read more

I think Halloween is one of the more fun holidays to decorate and plan for, especially if there’s a party or get-together involved! For Halloween especially, making decorations that are edible or that your guests can take home with them is a small but fun detail that will be appreciated by adults and kids alike.
The cute chocolate pops pictured above are available at The Chocolate Vault, and the mold designs range from cute to creepy, with spiders, spiderwebs, ghosts and even haunted houses cast in milk, dark and white chocolate.
If you don’t feel like purchasing the pops, you can make …read more

I know the holidays are still over two months away, but I like to start getting an idea early on for the goody tins I want to give out to friends, neighbors and my kids’ school teachers.
I just came across this idea for chocolate pretzel kisses, and since it requires easy to find ingredients and pretty much no other prep aside from assembly and warming up, they might just make it into this year’s gift! The “recipe” is easy to find pretty much anywhere, and I picked this one up from allrecipes.com.

Lindt’s “A Touch of Sea Salt” Chocolate Bar

I always love getting a package from Lindt, whose chocolates are always a great treat!
This past week I was sent a bar of Lindt Excellence A Touch of Sea Salt. Though it’s not new, I haven’t seen this on shelves yet and I was instantly intrigued. It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of chocolate and salt together, and it had never occurred to me that a chocolatier might actually combine just the two (without, say, peanut butter or something else with it).
The label says A Touch of Sea Salt is made dark chocolate, though at 47% it’s not …read more
