For your pumpkin carving pleasure

There are dozens and dozens of cheap looking plastic-handled kits out there that claim they’ll make your pumpkin carving chore easier. Not when the handles BREAK they don’t!
What to do instead? I’ve got two suggestions, and I’m sure that readers here can offer more tools that you personally think rock. Here’s what looks like winners to me:

The VanVacter Pumpkin Knife. It has a serrated edge down the whole length (which you really can’t see too well in their image), and the blade width dives from narrow to wide to accomodate all the various features you might want to carve. The handle is non-slip too. About $15.

For those who are tired of messing around, how about a Dremel Cordless Pumpkin Carver? It has two speeds, runs on double AAs, and comes with templates in case you are creatively challenged. Available at lots of retail stores.

I had to laugh when I saw the dremel pumpkin carver. I own a real dremel and never thought to use it to carve a jack-o-lantern before. I might have to give that a try.
Isn’t it amazing what all can be done with the humble dremel tool?
