5 Things You Probably Don’t Know About Me

Melissa (Road Gladiator) tagged me with this meme. I’ve enjoyed reading how other people have answered this question, because it gives me a chance to know some of my favorite bloggers a little bit better, so I supposed it’s only fair that it’s now my turn.
So here are five things that you probably don’t know about me:
- I was runner up to Miss Washington Teen when I was 16 years old. I know the whole beauty pageant thing doesn’t square with my strong independent streak, but that dichotomy is part of who I am.
- I don’t know how to swim. I never learned as a child, and although I could dog paddle my way through a very rudimentary swim test for my job, I consider myself a non-swimmer.
- I was on a television game show a number of years ago, and won $1500.
- I have never been to Europe. (I’m going to change that this year!)
- I hate snakes. I mean, I REALLY hate snakes. At one time I passed out when I saw one.
Now it’s my turn to tag five other bloggers, a chance for everyone to get to know them a little better: Laughing Chow at Photography Tips in Plain Language, Tish at Travels with Tish, Ellen at Queen of Sky, Ray at Astroprof, and Flygirl at Sorry I Don’t Have Peanuts.

Your tidbits are more interesting than mine. Hard to believe a travel blogger hasn’t been to Europe–have fun fixing that this year.
Hi Michelle,
Actually, I think of myself as pretty boring!
Yes, I know the Europe thing is nuts. It seemed that every time I made plans to go, something major happened that would interfere. 2007 is the year that all changes!
Wow, we have some things in common (Nos. 2, 4, 5) and others that parallel.
I think that these facts are so interesting, especially when we think about our background and preferences.
This is a great exercise. Thanks to both of you for the idea (and tagging).
re: #3
Wooah!
re: #5
I can imagine!
You, a travel blogger never visited Europe? It’s REALLY surprising.
Lisa: I know, it’s crazy, huh? Everytime that I made plans to go, something bad happened in my life (a death, serious accident, etc). After that, I just stopped making plans.
