There are as many reasons to track a flight, as there are ways to do it.

My new favorite flight tracker is Aeroseek. Once you pull up the status of your desired flight, take it a step further and track the flight in 3-D using Google Earth.

And if you like following flights for fun, not just out of necessity, you may be interested in watching flights into and out of the California Bay area on live radar tracks.
