Getting Through Airport Security Just Got Tougher

You arrive at the airport a couple of hours before you scheduled departure, get to the counter and check your bags (or carry everything to the security line). Your liquids are in a separate quart sized bag, and nothing exceeds three ounces. Your shoes and coats are removed and placed in a bin. You’ve removed your laptop from your carry on bag, placed it in a separate bin, and it’s ready to go. You don’t have any other metal on, so you’re ready to walk through that security screen door.
Wait! Stop! It’s not going to be quite so “simple” anymore.
In addition to all the things that you are already removing from yourself and your bags, now you can add removing ALL electronics for a separate screening.
Watching television interviews with airport personnel, they are claiming that this really won’t take any additional time.
HUH?!
I just rummaged through my standard carry on bags and found the following electronics that will now need to be taken out of my luggage or purse: Cell phone, charger, and AC adapter, iPod, and digital camera and charger. That’s really not a lot of stuff for someone who travel regularly, and needs to fill time both on the plane and in a hotel room.
What do you think? Is this going to slow things up and take more time getting through security?

seriously?! I am sooo not looking forward to reporting for work in our VA office in a few weeks.
glad for the warning, though.
Oy, I can’t even imagine. When my partner and I travel, he has a bad back, so he request a wheelchair. He goes through a separate screening process. Unfortunately, this leaves me to lay out all his things (cane, laptop, laptop bag, shoes) onto the conveyor belt along with my own. It already takes me quite a bit of time to organize two people’s belongings. We’re both gadget-owners, so I can’t even imagine how much more time this will take to get everything sorted out.
