Gifts for Travelers: Bag Tags

In a world of black luggage, it’s sometimes easy to grab the wrong bag.  Hopefully, you always check the beg tag to make sure the bag you’ve got is your own!

Bag tags make a great gift for travelersA brightly colored bag tag will add an additional visual to help you spot your luggage, whether you’re putting it in an overhead bin or looking for in on a crowded luggage carousel.

Currently, I’m using a bright neon pink bag tag, and you can see it from a mile away.  On a recent trip, I checked my bag, and it was easy to spot “my” black bag among all the others in baggage claim.

I’ve written about some fun bag tags previously, so take a look here to see if these suit you.

Here are a couple of other suggestions.

Tags for Bags offers bag tags made out of a heavy duty polyester webbing that can be personalized, Global Bag Tag offers a bag tag with an electronic tracking option, and Corporate Travel Safety offers larger sized, brightly colored faux leather tags (in photo).

Bag tags are relatively inexpensive, and make a great stocking stuffer or secret Santa gift.

  1. Because so many people carry black-colored luggage, I’ve decided to travel with luggage in green or silver hues.

I also attached a braided piece of brightly-colored yarn to the handle to differentiate my luggage from others looking for green or silver.

My sister is an artist, so she decorated my mom’s black-colored luggage with top to bottom painted drawings. No way will anyone claim that bag as their own (at least I hope not).

The tags are cool, too. We thought of these differences before the tags were introduced.

  2. Great idea! Anything to stand out in a crowd.

I have to use black luggage for work, so I’m stuck trying to differentiate my luggage with brightly colored tags.

  3. Kate says:

We haven’t had a problem since our little boy stuck dinosaur stickers all over our samsonite suitcase when he was two. I admit it’s not a solution for everyone, but the stickers do have golden highlights, so it’s not completely unstylish!

  4. Kate: That will do the trick, all right, and a good way to look at what could have been an otherwise unpleasant occurrence.
