Jet Lag Prevention

I’ve never had much of a problem with jet lag.

I follow a couple of basic steps that have helped me manage to adapt to changing time zones.  Here’s what works for me:

  • Changing the time on my watch to match the time zone where I am.
  • Using the time where I am, and never converting it to “back home” time.  (NOTE:  I do make an exception to this rule when placing a phone call.  Friends and family “back home” may not appreciate an early morning or middle of the night phone call.)
  • Adjusting eating and sleeping habits to match the time zone that I am in.  This may mean eating or sleeping a little sooner or later than I’d prefer, but it helps me adjust more quickly.
  • Adding a little exercise to the day, even if it’s just a walk around the block.

British Airways, working in conjunction with a sleep expert, has added a Jet Lag Advisor to its website.  It may provide some additional, and more specific information, for your personal time zone challenges.

A big thanks to Paul for sending me this link.
