Looking for Tailgaters at Lambeau Field

Friends, passengers, and readers frequently ask me for travel advice, and I’m always happy to pass information along. After all, that was the genesis of this blog.
Now, it’s my turn to ask you, my readers, for a little help. I need some very specific travel assistance for my very best friend in the whole world.
We like to have fun. Anita and I shop together, spa together, and just hang out together. We go to baseball games and football games. And it’s that last topic that lead to my plea for help.
Anita will be in Green Bay this weekend for the Packers game (Sunday, November 18th). Her husband is one of the NFL official that will be working the game. (He’s a back judge.) She’s got a plane ticket, a hotel room, and tickets for the game. What she doesn’t have is an invitation to a tailgate party.
She’s asked me to put the word out to all Flyaway Cafe readers. While she’s heard that Packer fans have mastered the fine art of tailgating, without the first hand experience, how will she know for sure?! And, in her own words:
I sure hope someone responds to your blog, it would make a huge difference in the amount of fun I have before the game.
So can anyone help Anita out?
If you’ll be tailgating at Lambeau Field come Sunday, or know someone who will be, please send an invitation to join you by leaving a comment to this blog post, or by emailing me directly.
Help a girl out. Let’s show Anita that blog readers are the best kind of friends to have. And let’s keep her rooting for the Packers and not the Panthers.

Hmmm, and what pray is tailgaiting? I get told of for it when I’m too close to the car in front on the motorway, but I’m guessing that’s not it
I’m working on it for you. Have some close friends who go to the games, but don’t know if they tailgate. Just sent an e-mail to them to check out any possibilities. No promises, though.
BTW — a tailgate party is a pre-game party in the parking lot. Wisconsin folks tailgate before Brewers games, Packer games and University of Wisconsin Badger games. People bring grills, food, drink, lawn chairs and a lot of spirited enthusiasm.
Bratwurst is a popular grilling item –being a favorite Wisconsin sausage. Tailgating starts hours before the game — I think Packer fans may come out early in the morning to start the festivities. Wisconsin folks really love their teams and celebrate the games in a big way.
I’ll make a note of this on my Packer blog – sadly I won’t be at the game. If nobody happens to volunteer, your friend could just wander around – the fans are VERY friendly, even to fans of opposing teams, and she’ll probably get a better view of how Green Bay does things. (And if they find out she’s the wife of an official, they’ll probably bribe her with even more food!)
Geoff: Tish did a good job of explaining it. It never occurred to me that it wasn’t a universal concept. Pre-game food, beverages (usually beer) and lots of frivolity.
Tish: That would be wonderful!
DrBear: Thanks for stopping by to comment, and for getting the word out.
I know that somehow this great group of people will turn up with something.
Thanks for the explanations! Of course we meet and have drinks etc but stadiums don’t tend to have massive parking areas – we just end up down the pub – or the police station if things get really out of hand! See Jed’s description on theLondonTraveler about football (used in the European sense) supporters to get an idea what I mean…
I will be at the game on Sunday and my friend and I will be tailgating. I believe it will be just the 2 of us. If interested in swinging by, the more the merrier. Like DrBear said, most of the fans are extremely receptive and friendly, you could just wander around and check out all the parties! Plus the rivalry between the Packers and Panthers isn’t as heated as much as the one with the Bears.
I will be at the game (with my boyfriend who sadly is a cowboys fan). I’ve only been to a few Packers games and love to tailgate. You can actually buy tickets to tailgate across the street from Lambeau. They usually start 3-4 hours before the game, have heated tents, an all you can eat buffet, all the beverages (including beer) you can drink, and some even give out prizes. Go to Stubhub.com for ticket info. Enjoy the game!
