Make Napping a Part of Your Travel Day

I’ve always felt that napping well was an art form, whether it’s a ten-minute catnap, a twenty-minute power nap or a two-hour rendezvous with REM sleep.

Misha napping.JPGBecause my job frequently has me flying when other people are sleeping, and vice versa, I have come to rely on the recuperative powers of a nap.  It is an integral part of my day to day travel experiences.   A nap refreshes me, calms me, gives me energy.

I rarely plan when I’m going to take a nap, much preferring just to let the mood come upon me.  Now, however, there is all sorts of talk about a new kind of nap:  the planned, strategic nap.

In napping, as in life, it appears that planning and timing are everything, and napping is now a part of a learned skill set.  Us nappers are apparently in very good company, as there are some very famous and productive nappers:  Winston Churchill, Salvador Dali, and Thomas Edison.

Check out the information provided by British Airways and see if there is something that can help you on your next journey.

My favorite napping advice: Napping in the middle of the day is not a sign of laziness; it is merely the following of a sleep management strategy.  Now, if I can just learn to nap like my cat, life will be good.

Cats are expert nappers! I used to have a cat that would nap on his back like that.

I try to tell myself that napping is good, but I just feel like I am being lazy when I do it during the middle of the day. However, it really does help later on.
