I first visited the Venetian Resort Hotel Casino when it was in a soft opening in 1999. It’s an all-suite, Venice-themed hotel and casino, and like most things in Vegas, it is over-the-top.
A few current features of the Venetian include the art exhibit Modern Masters from the Guggenheim Collection, Madame Tussauds Las Vegas, gondola ride, the Grand Canal Shoppes, and the Canyon Ranch Spa Club.
There are 17 restaurants, from high end to a food court, and even an upscale grocery store. Things have come a long way since that soft opening.
Entertainment and relaxation options include a production of The Phantom of the Opera, Blue Man Group, a variety of bars, Tao Nightclub, three pools, great pool amenities, and Tao Beach.
The Venetian Resort Hotel Casino is located on the strip at 3355 Las Vegas Boulevard South.
Do you have a matchbook that you’d like to contribute to Matchbook Monday? Email me a photo, and a few words about the location, and I’ll feature it on an upcoming Matchbook Monday.

Whenever I see the lion of St. Mark I remember this story I heard in Croatia, that when you see the lion holding an open book, that means the city was at peace when the lion was installed (usually over a city gate), and when the book is closed, that means the city was at war.

Great story, Marilyn. Hard to know which is more appropos for a casino!
I have been to the Venetian Hotel in Vegas and your right, the place has changed sooo much, but for the better!! I really like the addition of TAO. We partied there when i was on a recent trip and the place just rocks!! We also went to TAO BEACH and let me just say that was the craziest pool party that i have evert been to. I will definitly be staying at the Venetian again when i return to vegas in a month or so
Thanks for leaving an update, Blake.
It’s been awhile since I’ve stayed their, but it sounds like the changes have been good. I’ve already made plans for my next Las Vegas stay, but should move the Venetian up my list of choices for the next time.
