A Long Weekend in Baltimore

One of the best parts of travel is the chance to connect with friends and meet new people.  That’s just what I had the opportunity to do over this past weekend.
Best gal pal, Anita, and I were in Baltimore, Maryland, for a long weekend.  We had a chance to do some of my favorite things, as well as discover some new ones.
One afternoon we visited the Aquarium, which is always a favorite thing to do.  I’ve written about it after a visit earlier this year.  It was fun to share it with someone who hadn’t been before.  I loved the sharks and …read more

Location:  Baltimore’s Inner Harbor
I’ve been traveling the last few days (photo at right should give you some clue as to where), and internet access has been very poor.  But, now that I’m home I have lots of great information to share with all of you.
As much as I love to travel, it’s always good to come back home.

Baltimore: FREE Fall Program

If you’re not going to be able to take advantage of FREE Museum Day, September 30th, you still have some options if you live in the Baltimore area.
During October and November, you can enjoy the Free Fall Baltimore Program.  Area museums will be offering free and/or reduced admission.  Other highlights of the program include free live concerts, dance performances, and theater events.
I’ll be in Baltimore during this time, and will be checking out the Free Baltimore event listings for details.

It was a big surprise for me to learn that Orlando, Florida was found to be the angriest city.  Is it too much Disney-mania?  Too much fake touristy niceness?
The study, commissioned by Men’s Health magazine, didn’t rely just on anecdotal stories or a poll.  Instead, it was a complicated mix of factors such as:  the CDC’s Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System, FBI reports of aggravated assaults, Bureau of Labor statistics on workplace violence, traffic congestion information, and traffic citations.

National Aquarium in Baltimore, Maryland

National Aquarium in Baltimore, Maryland

Sharks are the predators of the sea, and there were lots of predators last weekend, in one of my favorite exhibits at the National Aquarium in Baltimore.
Sharks are large, and lumbering, yet somehow able to move with speed and grace.  The Aquarium’s swim tank allows visitors to view sharks from both above and below the water.  From below, you can view them close enough to look into their eyes and get a long, hard look at the sharp, jagged teeth.  I wouldn’t want to mess with any of these guys!  (Nurse shark in photo above.)
Another favorite exhibit was the stingray pool.  …read more
