Yes, there really is a little red lighthouse under the George Washington Bridge. It is right at the edge of the Hudson River on the Manhattan side, and I have biked up to it many times.
In recent years, New York City has spruced up and expanded the bike path, building parks and recreational piers along it to attract people to the water’s edge. The ride up is varied and scenic, and takes only 45 minutes from midtown.

The weather is still nice in most of the United States, and there’s still quality time to be spent out of doors.
If biking sounds like a good time, check out Gorp’s Trail Biking Guide, a list of trails and suggested rides across the U.S. Sorted into geographical areas, and then by state, it looks like there’s nice variety of ride suggestions ”“ short and long, easy and challenging, and probably something to suit all experience levels.

Finding the right carry on bag for traveling may be a never-ending search. For some people, it’s not about finding the perfect bag; it’s about finding ANOTHER perfect bag.

Walking and biking are two summer activiites that I just haven’t done enough of lately.
It seems that I never have the time. Or, perhaps more accurately, I never seem to make the time. When I do have time, I never know where to go or who to call to go with me.
