Celebrated on the first Monday in September, Labor Day gets its roots from the Nine-Hour Movement in Canada. Peter J. McGuire, an American labor leader, witnessed the parades held in support of a printer’s strike, and returned to New York where he organized the first American Labor Day on September 5th, 1882. It became a federal holiday a couple of years later, and is also a state holiday in every state.

Visalia Corn Maze & Pumpkin Patch

It’s October already, and another year continuing the Flyaway Cafe tradition of showcasing interesting, unusual and spooky Halloween events and attractions around the world.
You’ll still be getting a regular supply of travel tips and other suggestions, but I’m hoping that you’ll find a little ghoulish fun with all the Halloween posts as well.
Today we’ll go to Visalia, and to Vossler Farms’ Corn Maze. They have a Pumpkin Patch, too, but it’s the 10-acre Dragon Slayer maze, with 12 hidden checkpoints, that captured my attention.
