The Parade emphasizes diversity and family as it brings together the myriad economic, ethnic, social, sexual, and racial components of New York City.  Even the NYC Police Department has recognized the Parade for its contribution in making Halloween a safe event, bringing together the community in a creative and playful way.

The parade queues up at 6th Avenue, south of Spring and North of Canal, between 6:30-8 pm. The parade begins 7 pm and proceeds up 6th from Spring to 21st Street.  Thousands of costumed revelers will join in with puppets, bands, dancers and artists.  Anyone in costumed is invited to join in.

Don’t even think about driving to the Parade; take the subway.  The streets are most crowded between Bleeker and 14th Street; so if that’s the viewing spot you want, get there early.  There are lots of great viewing opportunities along the entire Parade route.

The parade is a favorite of residents and visitors, adults and families, and attracts approximately two million people.  Add in television viewers (NY 1 airing it, 8-9:30 pm), and this event will reach over four million people.  Now that’s a Halloween party!

Located just outside of Las Vegas, on the 144-acre Bonnie Springs Ranch, the ghost town spans a quarter mile of a creepy looking restored haunted ghost town.

Along the way you’ll encounter a few monsters and ghouls thanks to the creative team of Hysteria City.  It’s old west meets new special effects with custom-built animatronic props, high-tech lighting effects, and digital sound that nearly convinces you it’s for real.

Recommended for ages 13 and over (and parental discretion is always advised), some of the featured attractions include:

• A zombie filled train ride through an Indian burial ground and a bandit hideout
• Miners Haunted Dance Hall where ghosts celebrate the Halloween season
• Haunted Shootin’ Gallery for some eerie target practice
• Ominous Trail of Terror & Doom with three terrifying haunted tours
• and lots more sinister town locations. . . and residents

There’s also shopping, food, live entertainment and celebrity appearances scheduled.

Bonnie Screams Haunted Ghost Town will be open October. 10-12th, 17-19th, 21-31st, and November 1st-2nd (Day Of The Dead).  Tickets sales start at 6 pm, and the attractions open at 7 pm.  Tickets are $20 general admission, or $15 for the ghost town only.  Tickets can be purchased on site, or in advance online.

A portion of the proceeds benefit local youth-focused non-profits including Boys and Girls Club, Big Brothers Big Sisters and Olive Crest. Bonnie Screams Haunted Ghost Town is located at Red Rock Canyon in Las Vegas.

This Halloween event features age appropriate activities for the entire family, including:

• Trick-or-treating with costumes and candy
• Field of Screams featuring rides, slides and a skeleton walk
• The Frightening Manor – a kid-friendly haunted house
• Trail of Terror Haunted House
• Fall Harvest Festival with pumpkin carving contest, games, and activities
• Grand finale fireworks

The Bash is open October 24-26th, 31st, from 5 – 10 pm.  Daytime guest are invited to stay for the night time fun at no additional charge.  Special admission for the Bash (entry after 5 pm) is $24.95 for adults and $21.95 for kids ages 3 – 12, plus tax. 

A portion of the proceeds from this event will benefit The Children’s Trust, a Miami foundation.  Be sure to check out the special Children’s Trust Miami Heart Gallery at the Seaquarium, an exhibit featuring over 70 children in the foster care system who are available for adoption.

The Miami Seaquarium is located at 4400 Rickenbacker Causeway in Miami, Florida.

Halloween activities are scheduled October 25-26th, and are free with general admission to the aquarium.  (An additional charge applies for the Deep Sea 3D Movie.)

And of course, there’s lot of feeding going on.  Enjoy watching walrus, penguin, or sea otter feeding.  It’s high on the “aaaaaaahhhhh” factor!

The Octopus has to eat, too.  How do you like this Halloween dinner??

Admission is $13 for adults; $10 for seniors (65+); $9 for children ages 3-12, FREE for those under 3.  During this Halloween event, all children ages 3-12 who visit in costume receive a FREE admission when accompanied by a paying adult.  (Purchase aquarium tickets online.)

The Aquarium is located at Surf Avenue & West 8th Street in Brooklyn, and is open every day of the year at 10 am.  Closing times vary seasonally.

Boston University students, both former and current, have had their share of haunting habitats, with two sites rumored to be sources of paranormal activity.  Of course, this time of year the re-telling of these stories and legends circulate a little more widely!

The Charlesgate Hotel (20 Myrtle Street, Beacon Hill area of Boston) was built in 1891, and since the beginning has been rumored to be a site for paranormal activity.  Once a Boston University dormitory, and later a dorm for Emerson college, there were many reports filed by students who claimed the building was haunted during the 1970-90’s.  Today, as the Charlesgate, an upscale residential property, the rumors seem to have died down.

Another Boston University dorm, Shelton Hall (91 Bay State Road, Boston), is also rumored to be haunted (in photo).  In an earlier life, the dorm was the Sheraton Hotel where playwright Eugene O’Neill died in suite 401.  In O’Neill’s honor, the 4th floor was called the Writer’s Corridor.  It’s believe that O’Neill is still hanging out in that corridor.

Rawhide (a western-themed park and attraction) is turned into Doomtown for the annual Halloween Show, complete with amazing stunts, explosions, and special ghoulish characters like Digger Payne and Dr. Morbius (the town mortician).  Take a ride on the Train of Terror, enjoy the characters, and visit two spoooooooky haunted houses.

Doomtown at Rawhide is open Wednesday & Thursday, 5:30 – 10 pm; Friday through Sunday, noon – 10 pm.  The Crypt Haunted Houses at Rawhide is open Friday through Sunday through October 19th, then Tuesday – Sunday through Halloween weekend.  The haunted houses are open 7 – 10 pm.

Admission to the haunted houses:  $12 for a one haunted house, $16 for both, and $23 for both haunted houses and a Rawhide Town Pass.

Rawhide is located just south of Phoenix’ Sky Harbor Airport, and easily accessible from the surrounding area.

NOTE:  This is a live action show, designed to be scary.  Consider if it is appropriate for your children.

Circus Circus presents Fright Dome, ranked as one of the top five scariest haunted attractions for two years running.

Full of haunted houses (five), live freak shows, rides, scare zones and a few more surprises, Fright Dome runs October 3rd through 31st, 7pm – midnight.  Tickets are $33.95/person, and you can purchase Fright Dome tickets online or by calling the box office at (702) 794-3939.  An extra $15 for a VIP Fast Pass gives you express entry (no waiting on line!) to all five haunted houses.

Fright Dome is not recommended for children 12 years and under.  You must be 42 inches tall to go in the mazes.

Q.  What are you going to be for Halloween?  Are you working?

A.  I’ll be working.  And while Halloween isn’t high on my list of favorite holidays, I’ll indulge in a little frivolity I’m sure.

Most airlines permit Flight Attendants a little fun on Halloweens.  Obviously, no masks, fake weapons, or other potentially dangerous items, or anything that would interfere with our ability to perform safety duties.  But a witches hat while working the cart, a wart-filled crone nose, or some other fun accessories will usually not upset management.
