It’s been a busy week of travel, and I’ve had a lot of my plate this week, but I still found some good travel posts to share with you. Enjoy your afternoon with this variety of travel information:

Luxuo introduces us to a new type of architecture, a house built out of the iconic Louis Vuitton brown and gold print. It’s rumored to be located in Mexicali. I wonder how many tourists stop by for a look.

LA Times Travel lures us with exotic details of a cruise to Antarctica. I would love to be able to afford a trip to this least inhabited of the continents.

Vintage Seattle shows us photos of Sea-Tac Airport circa the 1950’s. It’s changed!

Tripbase lists 14 juvenile things to do with an underwater camera. Come one, how many of these have you done while on vacation?

Over at Gadling, Heather lists 20 things you can do inflight with a maxi pad. Yes, flight attendants really do ordinary items in unusual ways.

Traveling Mamas introduces us to the Broadmoor, a luxury resort in Colorado Springs. The pool area sounds great, despite her little one’s misadventure.

Travel Writer News shares some airline humor. Although many of these have been around for awhile, you’ll likely find a new one to chuckle at.

AOL Travel lists some ways to tell if a user generated review of a hotel is real or fake. Take it all with a grain of salt seems like a good idea.

Almost Fearless gives good suggestions on how to find safe, affordable, and clean places to stay while traveling. You’ll find these useful whether you’re traveling for a short duration or living on the road.

I’m off to learn more about what to expect in the travel industry for the next year, and what the trends will be. I’ll have more to report on those topics coming up.

Photo Friday: Tranquility on a Mazatlan Beach

I’m more of a sun junkie than a snow junkie, and this time of year I’d rather be enjoying a beach rather than skiing down the slopes.

A recent visit to Mazatlan revealed a nearly deserted beach. After taking in this view from my balcony, it was an easy decision to change into a bathing suit and catch a little sun time in the remaining afternoon hours.

The peaceful feeling of sun, waves, and sand makes me smile even now.

One Reason to Ask for a Window Seat

Sometime it’s nice to have a window seat!

On a recent flight I was able to snap this photo of Mount Hood through the very dirty windows of the plane.

Mount Hood is located in Oregon, and is part of the Cascade Range. It’s a little over 11,000 feet tall, and is very popular with skiers.

Strange West Coast Weather

I’ve spent a couple days flying on the west coast, and there has been some very strange weather going on.

There has been snow in places that normally never see snow, like Las Vegas and Southern California. There has been torrential rain in San Diego, California. There has been unseasonably cold weather (and I mean VERY cold) in Phoenix, Arizona and Palm Springs, California. And there was snow in Seattle, my home town.

Today was actually a sunny day at 40,000 feet, making the snow on the mountain sparkle in the sunlight.

Too bad it wasn’t quite so pretty on the ground.

I’m trying out some new photo editing techniques and programs, and thought I’d share this photo collage, made easy with online photo editing program picnik.

While I am certainly NOT a photo expert, I like the way this collage option allows me to aggregate my pictures and share them with others – like in this group of photos from time spent in Tuscany this spring. I love it when I can share photos with friends – without boring them to tears with my vacation stories.

This picknik collage provides a number of different options. Check it out and see if you find a use for it yourself.

What’s Out Your Window?

In my blog posts, I frequently share with you what I see out of my hotel window — beautiful beaches, the ocean, a storm brewing, a majestic skyline, or simply some architecture or flora that may have caught my attention. I share with you what I am looking at as I travel around the world.

Today, I discovered a relatively new blog that takes this idea to a grander level. Anthony at What I See Out My Window asks readers to take a picture of the view out their window. Then, send the photo to him along with your location and a description and/or story about the view.

Anthony says that he’s bringing the world together, one window at a time. What a fun idea!

Head on over and check out this creative idea. And then, get your camera, go to your window. . . and click!
