Take a Ride on the Giant Dipper

Belmont Park Giant Dipper Take a wild and rickety ride on one of the two remaining west coast oceanfront roller coasters, The Giant Dipper.

Located in Belmont Park (Mission Boulevard and West Mission Bay Drive in San Diego), an old-style family amusement park, the Giant Dipper has been restored from its original 1925 condition, and now lurches riders through quick drops, steep hills, sharp curves, and high speeds.  The highest drop is 73 feet, and the top speed is 45 miles per hour.

Giant Dipper Six dollars gets you a ride lasting one minute, 45 seconds.

And don’t think this is only about fun and games!  The coaster is listed as a National Landmark.

If you can’t get to Belmont Park, you can take a virtual ride.  Somehow, though, it’s just not the same!

The indoor roller coaster ride is based on the upcoming Warner Bros. movie, The Dark Knight, featuring Batman and The Joker.  You can enjoy the thrills of an adventure ride and fight crime in Gotham City all at the same time.

The ride will be at the theme parks in Jackson, New Jersey, Gurnee, Illinois, and Agawam, Massachusetts.
