The sunny days of summer in California don’t make staying indoors seem like too much fun. But at some point, you’ve got to come inside and if you do, maybe some simple DNA extraction experiments would be fun, especially if you still have kids around the house with the boredom itches of summer vacation.

  2. [...] We all know that there are a couple experiments we can do from home for the fun of it, but it’s beyond me how the guy started up from his home bathroom. Any ideas? Share and Enjoy:These icons link to social bookmarking sites where readers can share and discover new web pages. [...]

  3. [...] In a couple of interviews I did recently, I mentioned my sixth grade science fair project that was called something like Heredity, Genetics, and You. Back in 1983, the Human Genome Project hadn’t been launched yet and it was the year Kary Mullis invented PCR (according to the Genome News Network, although other sources point to 1980). My elementary school didn’t have much of a science education curriculum let alone labs where we could try to extract DNA or practice RFLP DNA fingerprinting. So I was left to my own devices without even the Internet to help me do research! *GASP* [...]

  4. [...] Being stuck at home with bored kids qualifies as an emergency in my book, try setting up experiments involving genetics and DNA. You can visit websites, buy a kit, or extract DNA. [...]
