  1. Thank you so much, Terri- I also repeat Dame Julian’s prayer, ‘and all shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well’, over and over and over and over….

    Noreen,
Thank you for demonstrating the incredible possibilities with the simple loop and loom. Actually, I gave myself the gift of the loom for my 50+ birthday. For some odd reason, I didn’t own a toy loom as a child. . . now I can explore my new tool along with your wonderful creative ideas. Can’t wait! Girls gotta have fun.

I LOVE your bookmark!! I am busy spooling Valentine nests…..Isn’t it great that different times of the year inspire our crafting…..a way of marking the seasons which can get missed while caught up with everyday “stuff” It’s quite funny though how we say our crafting relaxes us!!! I find some aggressive needlepoint always helps a bad temper! Enjoying your blog as always…how’s Tottie?

  4. Zann Carter says:

Oh, Noreen – I’ve got tears in my eyes…and was reminded of something I saved from soon after I joined the old WAS list. It was just months after my son’s death. You had written it to Nancy, but there was a message in it for me as well. And you have also directly written to me, words of healing wisdom. So thank you thank you for all of that. I know that woman must have felt like YOU were an angel!

  5. Tammy says:

Reading your story gave me the shivers. Talk about angels in disguise! Noreen, you are truly a blessing to all of us.

  6. Oh, thank you so much, Tammy! You know, sometimes, we are nudged by the angels to reach out past our comfort level, when someone else has a need that must be addressed. I am very comfortable operating on ’soul speak’ when I teach workshops, but I am usually careful to keep it in check when I am out in the world. But, sometimes, you need to be brave…. LOL!

  7. Bless your heart, Zann, and thank you so much.
Sometimes, when we listen, we are asked to be the flute that the breath of the Divine whispers through… and other times, we just putz along, merrily stumbling and bumping as we go. This certainly felt like a ‘flute’ moment to me…
I posted about it in the hopes that it would give other people the courage to listen for their inner flute moments, and to be present when someone else needs a loving touch of lightness and hope…..

  8. Hello Caroline!
Lovely to hear from you, as always!
I love the idea of Valentine’s nests… although here in Western Canada, the nests are deeply covered in mountains of snow and more snow! brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Poor Tottie sits in my studio with a baleful look upon her wee tomato face, wondering what she has done to be so abandoned!
I really ought to win the lotto so I could afford to write the books that she would love me to get to work on!

  9. Hello DeeMa
I am so pleased that you have treated yourself to a potholder loom! I didn’t have one when I was a child, either, which seems astonishing to me. Perhaps that kept me from forming preconceived notions about it, and then being able to see waaaaaaaaaaay outside the box on it as an adult…
May it bring you the greatest of joy and happy birthday!

  10. Aleksa says:

This valentine topped bookmark is GORGEOUS! You’re a wonder!

  11. Aleksa says:

I have been visualizing all those stitches as prayers…

  12. Oh I so know the joys of thinking something is going to be quick and easy only to find out it takes a bit longer than thought! It turned out great though…wonderful project!

  13. Diane Roeder says:

Comfort Threads, what a perfect description. I am a weaver and of course can’t bring my latest weaving project with me when I’m in a watching/waiting situation, so I always try to have some little bit of handwork that I can grab quickly.

What a beautiful post. There are many good people and good things in this life. Some people never see these small things. It’s a blessing to be able to see the blessings.

    Diane

  14. Cyndi Lavin says:

Some things are just worth waiting for! Beautiful :-)

  15. Katherine says:

Noreen, I love these stories you tell. I miss opportunities to provide comfort to other people ALL the time, and I am inspired by your stories.

  16. What a beautiful story of the power of the human spirit. Thanks for sharing it.

  17. Eileen says:

I love the heart shape. It has a Celtic look to it.

  18. Thank you so much, Cyndi!

  19. Thank you so much, Katherine- guess what? Your kind comment means a lot to me, so don’t underestimate your positive impact!!!
It’s clear to me that you have a very positive presence and impact!

  20. Thank you so much, Daryl! I really appreciate your kind response!

  21. Hi Diane
Thank you so much :o )
It really helps to have portable projects, doesn’t it? Small looms do fit into tote bags, and I often carry them with me, as I passionate about small loom weaving- the portability factor is one of the things I love about them.
And, yes, I agree with you 100% about the goodness of people and situations around us….. and I also agree with you about cultivating the awareness of the blessings in our lives….

  22. Hello Aleksa
Yes, indeed, there was unbounded love knitted and tatted into every stitch!

  23. Thank you so much, Eileen! Yes, indeed, it’s very influenced by Celtic interlaces- I love knotwork. :)

  24. Hi June
The design process can be challenging, can’t it?
    Thanks! :)

  25. Sarah S. (subscribed) says:

Greetings, are you mending them from the outside, or are you turning them inside out before you start. Great technique, looks so much neater. Thanks

  26. RK Hageman says:

That’s certainly the most elaborately patterned stick weaving I’ve seen… how do you do it with multiple colors in one “row”? Do you loop both colors around the same pin, as in tapestry weaving, or …?

  27. Aleksa says:

Noreen, I LOVE that you find us all these wonderful creative links. This week I especialy appreciated Chloe and the waterslide decal. Thank you!

    XO

  33. Thank you so much, Caroline! Our daughter is now home from the hospital and she and her husband are basking in the quiet and pleasure of being together with their baby! She’s on the mend! It was a rough time, so we are all feeling fairly exhausted….

  34. Thank you so much, Gwen- I really appreciate your kind thoughts!

  35. Thank you so much, Jane! It was indeed, a grim time. We are so pleased that our daughter is now home from the hospital and will continue to recover and get better and better! And, I will give our wee laddy a hug…. he’s utterly delightful!

  36. Thank you so much, Barbara. We got a shock when she ended up spending more time in hospital, but we are so happy that all is well now (I find myself touching wood as I type that- but do believe that all will be well!)
    Thank you again….

  37. Bookmarks are wonderful keepsakes & useful to boot!

  38. Martha W. (subscribed) says:

I think that there is possibly a missing skip 2 dc after the slip stitch is worked in the last row of the pattern for the start of the second lobe of the heart. Thank you for this lovely little heart pattern, I just love it. Best wishes to you and your family. I pray for a speedy recovery for your beloved daughter.

  40. Eileen says:

I’m sorry to hear that Chloe has been so ill. I’ve been thinking about the new grandbaby – not even imagining that his mom might be the one having problems.

She’s so lucky to have such a close-knit family. Get it? “Close-knit” Never mind …

I hope all will soon be well.

  41. Eileen says:

Very pretty. These would be terrific for applique or even for the front of a Valentine’s Day card. Thank you.

  42. Bless your heart, Martha! Indeed that was missing! I have corrected it. Thank you so much for your excellent editing skill.
And, thank you so much for your kind wishes, it means the world to me.

could you write to me at proudmama at cableone dot net? I have some questions about the cord instructions. Like do you turn? what do you do with the yarn on the left side? etc. I am a bit confused. (actually more than a bit – LOL!!) thanks so much, robin

  45. Great hearts Noreen, I think I’ll get The Little One working on some later this weekend! I hope your daughter is well…I know how important they are to us, my daughter and I share the same sort of “click” thing…it is such an incredible bond! You’re in my thoughts/1

  46. Glad you like them, Carolee… I am very pleased with them… of course, it always takes a fair few tries to get the pattern right, so I am tickled pink that they have turned out so well. :o )
And, thank you so much for your good wishes! Most appreciated!

  47. Thanks so much, Eileen…. the last few weeks have been rough, but we are hopeful that every day will be a day of healing!

  49. Leslie Sirag says:

Ah Noreen, welcome to a blessed fellowship!
We celebrated the 4th day of Chanukah on Mon. eve with 2 of our daughters, the men in their lives, youngest son, and youngest granddaughter, just 9 mos. old. You can read about it on my blog if you care to. She is #4 of the “official” grands, but our family’s so full of step-sisters & half-brothers that we’re up to 9 or 10 who call us Oma and Zaide. I have to say that participating in the birth of our first and latest granddaughters was a high not to be compared with any other, but they are all blessings.

I wish yours health and happiness. Leslie
