A Great Knitter, Blogger, and Postcard Swapper

I joined Project Spectrum, which if you read last month, was a lot of fun. Each month, there is a different color to focus on for a knitting project. March was red and/or pink. I made a knitted scarf in pink. April is orange and/or yellow and I’ll post that as soon as my yarn gets here. At any rate, Project Spectrum is about more than knitting; there is also a postcard swap for those who choose to get involved. I did and my “swapee” is one fantastic person and I want to introduce you to this knitter, designer, and all around fun lady.
Her name is Jen and her blog is called, “Pie Knits.” Right now, on her April 1st entry, she has featured a pattern for wrist warmers that are more than a little unique. They are his and hers, fair isle, skulls! They are absolutely adorable and perfect for the young knitter (or as a gift). The really exciting part is that this pattern is featured this month in MagKnits Online Knitting Magazine.
Then check out this gorgeous rope and ladders scarf. She is quite inventive and this is so classy. I can’t believe she has only been knitting a year! Right after admiring the scarf, I found her updated bobby socks. They are so cute – the way she photographed them is very up-to-date!
But I had never seen anything quite like her knitted cherry pie. I love it. It has to be the cutest thing in knitting. I think it would make a marvelous gift for a number of occasions. Bring it to a potluck (along with an edible one) as a gift to the hostess. It would be a great decoration too. I love it! And the calorie count I don’t have to worry about.
Visit Jen – you are going to love her blog and her patterns.
And check out her recipe for Scandinavian Almond Bars. They are just wicked!! I am going to make those as soon as I can rationalize away the calories – probably just a day or two is all that will take.
