Hankering for Yarn

Here I Am Again – With A Contest Of Course!

March 6, 2009 by Noreen Crone-Findlay
Filed under contest, knitting, yarn, yarn crafts

Last October, because of a number of factors, I decided that I would leave Hankering for Yarn. I grieved it and missed Hankering for Yarn, and the community of readers, terribly! So, when recently, I was invited to return to b5 media and begin writing Hankering for Yarn again, I was delighted.

There have been a heap of changes and I am soooooooooooo excited to be part of the new direction !

One of the biggest changes is that Hankering for Yarn will soon be part of Bliss Tree, which is an oh so nifty website/community.  I am looking forward to seeing how this all unfolds!

I have all sorts of ideas and plans for Hankering for Yarn, so stay tuned!

I will be playing with all things yarn:

Which is why I combined all those things in the picture.

If you can tell me what everything in the picture is, leave a comment in the comments section below, and you’ll win a prize!

Alrighty… you have until Tues March 10 to list off everything in the pic, and tell me what it’s for….

and yes…. there is a  mystery object in the picture…. let’s see if anyone gets it!  LOL!

I feel like I have come home again…..  I am happy dancing! Won’t you join me?

Thank you so much everyone who has posted so far…. I had planned on masking the answers, but woke up this morning to discover that answers were showing up….. oops!
That really ticked one reader off, ~sorrrrrrrrrrry~
SO – being a very creative hoppitty bunny, I am going to award MORE than one prize!
Alrighty?

  4. mary says:

hmmm…I know the yarn, spindle, crochet hook, rotating knit tools, but the beautiful hand is a wonderment..as well as some of the other objects. I will be curious to finally find out what they are, it is a very beautiful arrangement though.

  5. Tammy says:

    Hi Noreen -

I’m so happy to see you back – Hankering for Yarn has always been and still is my favorite blog.

    OK, let’s see, we have:

ball of handspun – the possibilities are endless

hand – to hold jewelry or whatever

    rigid heddle for loom

nostepinne – used to wrap yarn to produce center pull yarn balls (and I even know how to spell it!)

drop spindle – to spin fiber to produce yarn

    spoolie – cord maker

crochet hook – the possibilities are endless for this too – I’d love to see a handspun swatch

knitting needles – like the crochet hook, used to make fabric out of fiber

    tatting tool – for lacemaking

and… I’m thinking a long spool for wrapping threads or yarn around, possibly for Japanese braiding.

If I’m wrong, it will be fun to find out what it is!
    Hugs – Tammy

Hi Noreen, Glad to see you are back and up to your old self. I guessed all of your tools except the ridge heddle. Not being a weaver I thought it might be a hook gauge! Guessed the mystery item looks somewhat like a nose clip for those that swim? I can’t think of anything else it might be. Take care…. Marge
