Carved wooden dog crochet hook

In my last posting, I showed the pics of what happened when I asked our Chihuahua/dachschund dog to model for the puppy crochet hook I have carved.
Eep….. he grabbed onto it and was not about to let go.
Luckily, he is easily bribed, and Jim was able to distract him with cat food. Yummy…….
Anyhow…. about the new hook….
I’ve been working on it for awhile, and had gotten it to this point:
and got stuck.
Today, I suddenly felt inspired to get back to it.
So, I got out my knives and started carving…..
and my files and started filing…..
There… it’s starting to come together…..
more sanding, more carving, more filing…..
then time to burn the details on, paint a purple ribbon, glue on some tiny beads for eyes, varnish his head & ribbon
and call him done!
What a good dog! He’s even house trained.
Well… actually, he did leave a fair amount of shavings and sawdust behind, but I can forgive him for that! ;o)
