Christmas on Hankering for yarn

Christmas is a VERY big deal for us.
We are not into shopping much, but we LOVE to make gifts and ornaments. We love the music, food and family connections of Christmas.
I have been posting a lot about Christmas at our house:
I carved a special snowman crochet hook that is an ornament, but also a ‘working’ hook. In holiday spirit, I am giving him away to one of my blog readers. Here’s the url to win him:

There’s a pic of him against the tree in our Christmas village: christmas-traditions-our-village
and a pic of our Christmas village, complete with helicopter, snowmen, angels and gnomes.
People wanted to know how to carve a snowman hook, so my Christmas gift to them was a series of postings; how-to-carve-a-one-of-a-kind-snowman-hook-crochet-hook
Here’s a VERY unlikely, but well loved Christmas gift that I made for my beloved daughter in law a couple of weeks ago.
She’s been making Christmas presents like mad with it: christmas-crafting-has-started
Another of our favorite Christmas traditions is to make holiday ornaments each year for our friends and family.
Each year my husband and I design and make a new one, and I always burn the year on it, so people will remember the specialness of that year. This year is the year of the heart, as both our daughter and our son got married this summer. Sadly, my precious mother in law, whom I adored, died this summer, so we inherited her mother’s button jar.
We have used buttons from Grandmas’ button jar to add an extra special touch from the heart. Here’s the link to the holiday ornament posting: holiday-hearts
The Caron Yarn company commissioned me to design crocheted Gingerbread stockings.
I was their ‘first day of Christmas’ with these patterns: free-pattern-gingerbread-girl-stocking free-pattern-gingerbread-man-stocking
and speaking of Gingerbread! I designed a high fiber, low calorie inedible Gingerbread man to spool knit: spoolknitted-gingerbread-men
And I posted links for quick Christmas stocking stuffers: Finger puppets that I have designed to spool knit, crochet and weave:

We have many family traditions for Christmas. One of them is to gather at our daughter and her husband’s house to make gingerbread houses. My husband and I made the goofiest gingerbread house eVER!
Another of our Christmas traditions: giving to charity: december-charities-heartfelt-gifting
We also love making presents for the women and children at the women’s shelter and are busy at work doing that: teeny-bears-for-charity
I often feel that Santa’s workshop has moved to our house. We get a lot of commissions for Christmas and Channukah spool knitters, and I am always so inspired! This year is no exception!

We try hard to make as many of our gifts as possible. I have uploaded tutorials for lots of my designs so people can make lots of their presents, too: holiday-crafting-ideas-hankering-for-yarn
Christmas is coming to Tottie Tomato’s house too!
To say that we love Christmas is an understatement!
) Happy Holidays everyone!

PS: I am working on lots more Christmas postings

Thanks for sharing this. My mother-in-law made me a knit snowman years ago and it’s still part of our Christmas tradition.
