Upcycling found and

discarded objects and

using them to create

wild and funky dolls

that are an expression

of human experience

is one of the great joys of

my life….

And through your blog they bring joy to ours as well. Thank you for the many smiles.

Hi Barbara
Oh! I love the image of people looking for shiny lost things.... I have to admit that I have an especially soft spot for rescuing lost objects and giving them new life.... We are obviously coming from the same place on this, as your upcycled trees sound like they are emerging from the same source energy as my upcycled dolls! LOL!
Fun!!!!

I saw a blog once, can't remember but wish I had saved it, about folks who were constantly looking down for shiny things; seems they were always on the prowl for found objects. I find myself doing the same thing; I have a bowl on my dresser half full of things I find like a single lego, single earrings, lonesome buttons, hairbows, a short piece of purple ribbon, a red wooden heart, a couple of pennies, well, you get the idea. I use these things to decorate tiny Christmas trees that I give away every year.

Hi Diane
Did you join them as you finished them, or did you put them together later?
Joining each one as you finished it could end up being very cumbersome. I think that I would prefer to make them in strips and then work joining rows with crochet.
I have always worked with the flowers one at a time and combined it with crochet, knitting, spool knitting, tatting and weaving.
I love flower looms!

These types of gadgets are a lot of fun! We have a variety of flower looms and weavettes. They are great to use with children and for embellishing freeform crochet and knitting. I usually have good luck finding them on eBay. Thanks for posting about these! :)

I made my mother-in-law an afghan with a daisy loom back in the early 80s. She loved it! I hated joining all those little flowers together, but it did look pretty when it was finished!
