That's what I used for the crocheted mermaid necklace. (and about a million other things, and am STILL using it..... there's MILES of wire on it!) A friend sent me a smaller spool (but still quite large) of wonderful braided wire that she bought from a vendor in Japan. She thought it would be the size of the teeny spools you get at the craft store, so didn't think much of ordering several spools. When the spools turned out to be 6 inches across and 6 inches tall, she was floored. Bless her heart, she sent me one! I love it.
