Hankering for Yarn

Happy tatted butterfly

I was so happy today to be able to say to my dentist:

“I really like you, but….

we’ve been seeing too much of each other.

It’s time for a break.”

She and her assistant both cracked up and we all merrily agreed that we are on a break. (we really have been spending waaaaaaaaaay too much time together lately! erk)

Anyhow, while I am having to spend time in waiting rooms and dentist chairs and other tedious places, I bless my tatting shuttles.

Oh, how I love my tatting! It’s so portable, and it’s also so gentle, soothing and contemplative.

Today, while tatting on the way to the dentist’s office, I had a big breakthrough with the little tatted butterflies that I have been making for years.

These tatted butterflies are my version of a standard tatted butterfly,  but, I have always been somewhat unhappy about the body of the butterfly.

Well, today, I twigged to a little flip and chain that suddenly ‘fixes’ the body. So, I was happy dancing about it.

I decided that I had to take pics of my happy discovery.

Immediately, my beloved kitty needed to see what I was doing. She is my ‘glued-to-me’ cat and is very curious about everything that happens in the studio.

So, when I started taking pics of the new butterflies, she jumped into my lap and started helping. I took about 20 pictures of her with the butterflies, but these are my 3 faves:

Life is full of small pleasures!

The last photo made me cry with laughter.

“There’s something on my nose? Really?”

  2. “A butterfly? Where?” Too cute. Congratulations on your breakthrough!

What a cute kitty! I can’t believe the kitty just sat there and let you take all those photos. What an adorable cat. They are so funny sometimes.
I love my tatting for waiting rooms, too.

    Hi Sarah
I have to photoshop another really sweet pic of her…. she is always convinced that everything I do revolves around her! LOL!
I have a pic of her looking at the tatted butterfly, going:
“For me? oh you shouldn’t have! But I am glad you did!”
    LOL!!!!!

    Hi Tattingchic
She really is adorable! She’s getting old, and is Siamese, so she can be very vocal about wanting her people to be on the ball in meeting her needs- but- she is also a very enchanting little cat! She was the light of my sweet mother in law’s life for 9 years and when Mum died, we adopted kitty.
    We love her to bits.

Don’t you find that people are intrigued with tatting? When I tat in airports, people will come up to me and start conversations about it!
    :o )

If you make them using a SCMR you can get a super body!!! Get in touch if you want the pattern.

    Hi Jane
Isn’t it neat how you can find so many ways of making the image come out right? What fun!
Tatting truly is bliss :o )
I clicked on your and it’s great! Well done, Jane!
    :o )

The kitty and butterfly combination is absolutely magical! She reminds me of Wonder Woman or some other super creature, and manages to still look quite regal. Any other cat with any other butterfly would look just goofy!

  10. Noreen says:

She really has panache, doesn’t she? *G*

  11. Peggy says:

Ahh. That’s one of the sweetest cat photos I’ve ever seen. I can tell she’d be a really good buddy. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks so much, Peggy :o )
She really is a sweetie. She’s also VERY vocal, and let’s us know ~exactly~ what she’s thinking! LOL!
