The other day, I was so upset, because I broke a treasured vintage yarnie tool, a Crazy Daisy Loom.

I blogged about it
because I was so unhappy
about it.
I am so grateful
because a very
kind reader, Frank,
sent me a couple of
notes, explaining
how to fix my well
loved Crazy Daisy loom.
Here’s how…..

Frank said to look
for little dots that
are where the spot
welds hold the layers
together.
Drill them out.
So, here, I have drilled the
welds out, opened up the
layers, and released the
remaining wires. (Some had
fallen out already.)

And, here, I have
carefully
placed the little
bent wires into
their slots and
holes.
Interesting geometry
isn’t it?
After this stage,
I very carefully
clamped the top back on.

Then Jim ground
(oh so carefully)
the drilled out holes,
and then got the
silver solder
and his soldering iron
out….

He carefully
soldered each
of the drilled
out points.
It was a slow
careful process.

And, then,
hurrah!
My crazy daisy loom
is now well and whole
and ready to make
flowers again!

From now on
I will be
very
very
very
gentle
when
making
flowers with it!

Yay…
flowers!
Yay
for
repairing
a broken
but well loved
little tool.

YEAH!!! good job! Bravo!! Are you still smiling?
I was so sad for you when I read about your Crazy Daisy Loom’s demise. I’m so glad you managed to fix it. What a great thing blogland is sometimes.
hi there! i am trying to repair a daisy wheel & was so happy to find your instructions…i am wondering if the silver disc with the holes is attached to the side with the channels for the spokes. mine is 3 distinct pieces and i am wondering if this is why my spokes won’t retract?! i would love any suggestions you or hubby might have! thank you-celene
Hi Celene
Oh oh… I think that the silver disk is indeed attached to the foundation piece. This is the only time I have ever had mine apart, so I am really not an expert on it- just very grateful that we were able to fix it….
I am keeping my fingers crossed for you! Hope you can fix yours…
