Hankering for Yarn

Knitting bags-9

I finished it!

I posted this morning after breakfast that I was going to do a proper template and all that, but I changed my mind.

I decided that the best way to carry on with the knitting bag was to stitch it together by hand.

So, I measured out two pieces of string to act as guides for the bottom flaps. I tied them on, grabbed some pins, needle, thread and scissors and took the whole shebang with me as we went off to a busy day in the city.

I stitched away as we drove. I stitched away while waiting for appointments. I stitched away while waiting for Jim to finish up a service call.  I just stitched and stitched all day….

and this evening, I finally finished  the knitting bag!

Would I jump in and start on another?

Not likely! One is enough for now!

One of those: ‘It seemed like a good idea at the time’ projects.

Yah, right………..

Mum, that’s a beautiful knitting bag! It reminds me of wonderful Nana, and make me want to fix up my knitting bag!

I love the knitting bag so cute and handy

Very nice, Noreen. My mother had a folding one quite similar to yours. I hope yours is as long lasting and useful as hers. For decades it sat beside her living room chair. Thinking back, I believe she only knit at home. I cart my stuff everywhere.

  4. Noreen says:

thanks so much, Carolee! I just love them. (which is good, as they were a real corker to make! LOL)

  5. Noreen says:

Thank you Dianna! and thank you so much for inspiring me to make these folding knitting bags.

I love them and have used them for a long time.

I used them in puppet shows for holding props, as well as carrying knitting, crochet, weaving and spool knitting!

I’m with you on carrying fiberart everywhere! It’s definitely too good to just leave at home!

  6. Aleksa says:

Noreen, you are a brave and persistent wee lassie! I’d have burned the darn thing amidst a blistering volley of curses. Your formerly solid and gentle looking husband is looking a bit mad around the edges though…

  7. Noreen says:

ROTFLOL! Aleksa, you are the best big sister anyone could ever have! I am so blessed.
Jim does do a very good ‘eegads’ face, doesn’t he?
It has me grinning from ear to ear!
