Knitting Shops on the Road

Whenever a knitter goes on vacation, you can bet she (or he) will be touring the yarn stores in the area. I have also heard of people planning “knitting vacations.” A knitting vacation is essentially taking a tour of yarn stores in a certain locale. For instance, someone may live in Seattle, and decide to do a tour of the yarn shops on the west coast. Knowing where they are in Washington, Oregon and California would make that a lot easier – it would help plan an itinerary and know how long to stay in any given area.
Most of us rely on the yellow pages of the local phone book to find those yarn stores, but there is a way you can plan ahead a bit. I found this on the Internet the other day and I think it is really a cool site. I think you will love Knitting/Yarn Shops at MapMuse – bookmark it – without a doubt, someday this will come in very handy!
Oh, my favorite yarn shop is on the list. It is Kirkland Yarn & Stitchery. I don’t live anywhere near them any more, but any time I need something, all I have to do is pick up the telephone. They have the most amazing customer service I have ever seen. Tell them, Adelle sent you. They don’t have a web presence yet, so give them a call at (425) 821-2132.
This site has maps for all kinds of topics. They are working on one for yarn clubs. If you have one you would like to have listed, as the list has just opened and isn’t populated yet, let the people at MapMuse know.
