Lady Godiva goes home

More than 30 years ago, when I was young and children were only a distant dream, I sat down and embroidered some tapestries for those dream children.
Not long after, I met the man of my dreams, and we fell in love and have stayed and deepened and grown in love.
AND…. the best part is……. we did have those 2 dream children.
Our wonderful daughter has just taken home one of the embroidered tapestries: Lady Godiva………
I embroidered Lady Godiva with the intention that someday, my first born child would take this tapestry and know that it was a pledge of friendship between us. And, every time she looks at the tapestry, she’ll know that she was welcomed, wanted, waited for, cherished and loved.
And, some day, I hope that there will be another young woman who will pat the Lady Godiva tapestry and say:
‘I had a grandmother who lived and loved well!’
If you ever happen upon Lark publishing’s first Fiber Arts Design book, there’s a tiny pic of this tapestry in it.
This is what our daughter and her husband took home with them this evening:
Here are more pics of Lady Godiva……

Lady Godiva is EXTRAORDINARY(and yes I meant to scream it) your daughter and her daughter and her granddaughter will love this extraordinary piece for years to come. It really is beautiful!
thank you so much, Debra Ann! You just well and truly MADE MY DAY! I am grinning from ear to ear!

Noreen that is exquisite! I’m tearing up just thinking about all the love that went into that wonderful creation. And now I’m pondering if you might consider adopting a somewhat grown female – okay completely grown, but young at heart.
Thank you Anita!
LOL! you’re so sweet!
I have a fair few ’surrogate daughters’ – some of whom are older than me! ROTFLOL!
