Hankering for Yarn

Mardi Gras Mask-1

Sandy, over at All holiday cafe, mentioned that Mardi Gras is coming.

I have never been to Mardi Gras, and can’t fathom ever going, but I thought….. ‘hmmm…. it would be fun to make a Mardi Gras mask that incorporated spool knitting, crochet and tatting.’

So, I got out my graph paper, and a pair of my glasses,

and started sketching.

When I was pleased with the template shape

I cut it out

and tried it on:

and thought: Wow…. I could do this as a butterfly!

So….

I started with the template and played with it till I had drawn a butterfly, traced the  eyeholes, and cut it out.

I like it!

Hmmmmm………. what to use for the foundation of the mask?
