Hankering for Yarn

New Gulliver Crochet Hooks

I have been bubbling over with inspiration and excitement since I got home from the Knit and Crochet conference!

Jim and I have been working on a new series of Gulliver Crochet hooks

with a little help from the Inspector General.

Jim had just turned the blank that is in his hand, and brought it into the studio to show me. Our little munchkin was so thrilled that Daddy had re-appeared that he lept up into his arms and covered him with kisses.

Jim turns the basic shape for me, and then I set to work, carving, sanding, filing, cutting, drawing, burning, painting, shaping and to build the Gulliver Crochet Hooks (c)
From the one in his hand, I  made:

Rosebud, who is about 8 inches tall and approx. an ‘N’ hook.

She has a glass bead set into the center of the blossom on top of her head:

The pics are actually larger than real life, so they look coarser……

Then, I made the Queen of Hearts:

The Queen of Hearts is about 6 inches long, and is also approx. an “N” hook.

Here’s her back:

A friend of mine was asking about a Gnome lady Gulliver hook…. she was sure I must have done one. Well, no, I hadn’t until then, but….. now I have:

That’s a glass bead set into the top of her hat. After I painted her hat red, I thought… mmmhmmmm…. she needs her dress to be purple……. yep.  She’s a Red Hat Gnome!

She’s such a sweetie!

And, I decided to make a really little hook, so I did another blossom, and made her to nestle into the palm of the hand.

She’s a petite 4 1/2 inches long and is approx size ‘N’.

this pic is many times bigger than she is, so she looks quite rough… but she’s actually a shy little gentle blossom!

I am just working on getting them onto my website, but had to give a sneak preview here, first!

Wheeeeeeee! Jim has just brought 3 more freshly turned blank hooks in…… hmmmmmmmmm….. I wonder what they’ll be?

hugs all round

and, yes, I do sell them…. as much as I’d love to keep every single one of them, there’s a small matter of putting food on the table and a roof over our heads……..

    Hi Jacqui
I’ve asked Jim to step up to the lathe and turn me Rosebud’s sister :) Well, actually, I asked him to turn me 2 more….. to give you the option of choosing one of Rosebud’s sisters…..
    They are $39.95 + shipping.
