One button done! Inspiration!

I was chatting with my wonderful son in law earlier today, and he said to me:
‘I had an idea about the button on your new coat’….
(He’s a keeper, what can I say?)
‘Why don’t you spool knit a Chinese knot?’
Holyhonkinhaleuah! WHAT A BRILLIANT IDEA!
He’s a genius!
His wife, my daughter, Chloe , had blogged about Chinese knots, so he got her to send me the link:
So, I clicked on it, and my eyes rolled up in my head at the complexity of it. I LOVE the look of them, but………
eegads and little fish!
I remembered using some vintage knotted buttons on one of my woven vests, so I went and dug it out:
I realized that this wasn’t the Chinese knot/frog closure that I had been thinking of, but couldn’t remember if I even still own the vest it was on.
BUT! I looked at the buttons and loops and let out a whoop of delight!
I immediately thought of the teeny vintage weave-it loom that my darlin’ sis in law found for me in the best 2nd hand store ever.
I thought – I am going to weave squares to stitch over the stinkin’ ‘orrible messy ‘not good enough’ buttonhole, and make wooden circles and weave squares to go over them, and spool knit the cord to go between!
Y E S ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !! ! ! !
Wait a minute…. there were some big old buttons in Grandma’s button jar…. I’ll just use two of them!
The yarn is a combination of fibers that I spun up awhile ago. I couldn’t decide which color to go with, so I am going with one strand of each.
KK…. gotta go spool knit and weave! ttyl!
