Hankering for Yarn

Painted yarn

When I say ‘painted yarn’…..

I really MEAN ‘painted yarn’!

Jim and I love mooching through 2nd hand stores. It’s so much fun to find something that has ‘good bones’ but needs some TLC.

Recently, we bought this funky old bench:

Someone had put a great deal of effort into needlepointing the seat cover. That was very nice, but eegads and little fish… they had used ghastly yarn and horrible combinations of colors. Shudder….. the picture does not do justice to the amazingly awful yarn on the seat. shudder shudder shudder
As well, there was a serious splorch of coffee or tea or gravy -

anyhow…. it was a mess.

I figured……… this poor old thing is a write off, so why don’t I just paint it?

I mixed up some textile medium with some acrylic paint and painted out the baby yellow:

Well, that looked better, and so I figured that while I was at it, I would paint out the baby pink…….

and now, it looks quite acceptable. Still need to strip the paint, but that can wait……

So, if you’re thinking of painting yarn, what the heck-

go for it!

:)

hugs all round
