Ribbit Ribbit

The other evening, my daughter in law and I were both busy with our yarn.
She’s knitting some wonderful new bags and I am working like crazy on new designs for projects for a book I am writing.
One of the things about designing a project is that you just have to be willing to tear everything apart until you get it right. And, sometimes, that means tearing it out and tearing it out and tearing it out.
It’s my job as a designer to make sure that I get the project right so the readers of the book won’t have to go through hair tearing. I want them to have fun! So, I go through a lot of NOT fun to get there.
Which is why I was tearing out, starting over, trying out, taking out… and so on…..
)
My daughter in law watched me frogging away and finally said to me:
“How many times are you going to do that?”
“As often as I need to…..”
)
To which she responded:
“Ribbit, ribbit, ribbit! I think you are the frog queen!”
Frog Queen?
Ribbit. ribbit. ribbit……..
ah, the things we do for love….

I for one appreciate all you do to make sure we can understand your patterns. I am more of a visual learner, but I do find your instructions easy for me. Thank you
Barbara
I agree with Barbara all your hard work and ribbiting (is that a word?) makes the patterns you offer quick and easy. I have come accross patterns that were just a mess and I never finished the prodject!! what a waste
Thank you so much, Barbara!

I have been working and re-working two of the new designs all week. I just keep reminding myself that it’s going to work out. There is always that little nasty voice in the corner that scritches and says: “This one isn’t going to work…. you’ve wasted all week…. nyah nyah, you won’t make deadlines…. ”
Shudder!
Thanks so much, Carolee!

This is one of the great things about the internet! Even just a few years ago, an author didn’t have a chance to talk directly with her readers while she’s in the process of writing a new book.
It’s so neat to get feedback while I am in the thick of the design process. It really helps!
