I’ve been thinking a lot about baby caps because of the cap I designed for Knit One Save One

Here’s the link for the Earflap Baby cap for Save the Children
And it struck me that the cap and sweater that I designed for Caron Yarns would probably be a good thing to make for charities of all descriptions, too…..

And, yes, even though the pics don’t show it that clearly, those are indeed, little people of the world on there.

One of the things that I love so much about going to conferences is the serendipity factor.
You know that you are going to meet great people and get inspired in unusual ways.
For me, it was meeting the 2 lovely women who were running the Save the Children booth.
It is a natural for them to be at a knitting and crochet convention, as they are working on the
KNIT ONE, SAVE ONE campaign to save millions of babies.
I am one of those ‘if it moves, mother it’ kind of people, so I really feel strongly about supporting wonderful organizations like Save the [...]
Post from: Hankering for Yarn

One of the things that I love so much about going to conferences is the serendipity factor.

You know that you are going to meet great people and get inspired in unusual ways.

For me, it was meeting the 2 lovely women who were running the Save the Children booth.

KNIT ONE, SAVE ONE campaign to save millions of babies.

I am one of those ‘if it moves, mother it’ kind of people, so I really feel strongly about supporting wonderful organizations like Save the Children.

I chatted with Tricia Puskar, who is the associate director of Survive to 5, and Christen Grasso, Campaign Coordinator of Survive to 5, and was deeply impressed with their commitment and passion for their work.

I picked up the booklet and made a promise to myself that I would find the time to crochet at least one cap during the conference.

Caron Yarns had been extremely generous in supporting my workshops by donating yarn for the workshop participants, so it was a natural for me to use their gorgeous new Paints yarns to design and make a cap for the Save the Children cap campaign.

I designed a cap with earflaps, and wrote a note to the mother who will be receiving the cap:

And then I took the cap to the booth -

They were delighted that I had designed an earflap baby hat, as Nepal has been asking specifically for earflap caps!

A really nice woman came along and took the pics for us, and told us to stand in front of the banner to make the connection.

Clever!
