Hankering for Yarn

Plain Curtains? Spool knit embellishments!

Plain Curtains? Spool knit embellishments!

Do you have some plain curtains that could do with a little spiffy-ing up?

My daughter, Chloë Findlay-Harder, made a gorgeous set of curtains for her brother and his wife.
The curtains are a heavy, soft brushed denim in smokey green.
Chloë spool knitted cord with Lily Sugar’n Cream in ecru, and then pinned and stitched Celtic Interlaces to the top corners of the curtains. She also did this at the lower edge of the curtains.
They’re beautiful!
If you have a plainjane set of curtains that are ho hum, get out your spool knitter and have fun embellishing them!

A week or so ago, I posted about the silk/wool/eco-spun combination of yarn that I was spinning.
Here’s what I was spinning it for: A ‘Here Be Dragons’ stole that I just designed…..

I’ll be publishing the pattern in a little while….

Tammy sent me a note, saying that she liked the spool knitted Celtic Interlace heart Valentine
and that she thought that the motif would work well as an applique or other embellishment on garments or home dec stuff….
Yep, I agreed.
This is something I’ve been doing for quite some time.
And, I figured that I should show a few pics of some of the spool knitted Celtic interlaces that I have included on some of the shawls I’ve designed and made:

Yup. Love my spool knitters…..  and Celtic interlaces…..
