Winter! enough already! BLECH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This has been the winter that just does NOT let up! I have had more than enough of it, and my vote is for Spring to puhleeze arrive!
On top of miserable weather, Jim and I have been walking into walls with sleep deprivation. Ever since our big old Newfoundland dog died a couple of weeks ago, our greyhound has been a very unhappy boy.
He’s been baying for hours at night- eegads and little fish!
Jim finally twigged that the poor furbaby has been hearing our neighbour’s dog barking (What kind of moron leaves their dog out in this hideous cold?) Anyhow, Jim’s theory is that our boy thinks that his big brother is stuck out in the cold and wants us to let him in.
Then, another piece of the puzzle clicked into place on Friday.
We were stuck in a bureocratic nightmare- we were getting new license plates and the poor woman kept hitting the wrong keys and the system was unhappy. And, then, I happened to notice that there was another error on the vehicle registration. Big mistake. If you see an error, be afraid, be very afraid! Someone, somewhere, sometime, had gotten sloppy with our vehicle registration and had royally scuppered things up. We were blythely unaware of this until I was peering at it, and said: This is odd…..
If you are ever in a similar situation: Shut up.
It took 2 hours sitting in a bleak grey office with increasingly agitated people keying and clicking and cursing…….. oh my..
Anyhow…. one very good thing came out of it. And, that was that the woman who was learning the system and had made those first ill fated typos, apologized to us, saying that she had spent the last 14 years taking care of animals.
She was a total sweetie and I told her about our situation with our baying hound. She looked concerned and asked if he was sleeping alone. DUH! His bed was out in the studio, and the cat and our other little doggieduffer sleep in our bedroom.
So, on Friday night, I hauled his bed into our bedroom, and we went through his bedtime ritual: He wears a T-shirt to sleep in, and I always tuck him in with his blankie wrapped around him. He hates change, so was appalled that I was doing it all wrong by doing it in the WRONG place…. he glowered at us, because we closed the door and wouldn’t let him out to pace the house and bark and bay for his big brother.
BUT! for the first time in 3 weeks, he slept through the night!
BLISS! and he has slept through every night since! Now, we need to catch up on our sleep deprivation and regain our equanimity and balance. The dog sleeps all day, so is he sleep deprived? NO! Are his humanbeans just about twisted sideways? yep. I have felt so lousy that I have not been able to put words together, so my blog has been running on empty.
Sleep is a very good thing for the human brain. I intend to get more of it! I feel like I have been walking in an increasingly grumpy fog. A dogfog.
Anyhow……… in spite of the repercussions of living with the hound of the Baskervilles, I have finally finished the hemp bag. I am tickled pink with it.
Here it is, with both sides stitched to the handles, and the lining sewn in:

and here it is: Done! yay!
the front and back are now stitched together: Fait accompli!

Designing and making this bag has really inspired me, and I have a whole lot of ideas about more designs, workshops, and a book that I would love to have evolve from it.
But first….. some sleep!
hugs all round
sweet dreams!

I’m so glad you were able to figure out what was happening with your greyhound! So… when are you doing a greyhound bag?
Ah, yes, it’s so good to figure out why a sweet dog would turn into the hound of the Baskervilles!
And, about that greyhound bag…. did you peek? LOL~!
Love that bag, Noreen – puts my bag that is just natural color to shame! Ahh but great minds think alike. I want to do a hemp belt with beads for summer, too!! I do a lot of macrame, esp. the jewelry. Yarn and Beads, a perfect mix!!
