3 Things You Thought You Knew About Sex…

- Promiscuity has less to do with the spread of STD’s than factors such as poverty and education — especially in the encouragement of condom use — in the transmission of sexually transmitted diseases.
- People are not having sex at earlier and earlier ages. Most people lose the big V between 15 and 19 years old which is the same time-span as it was 10 years ago.
- Married couples have the most sex. They report more sexual activity over time than singles.
British researches just published an article in The Lancet in which they looked over a decade research from around the world. All of it on the subject of sex. Their findings have dispelled many commonly held beliefs by people in the field and outside it. From the article:
Research aimed at investigating sexual behaviour and assessing interventions to improve sexual health has increased in recent decades. The resulting data, despite regional differences in quantity and quality, provide a historically unique opportunity to describe patterns of sexual behaviour and their implications for attempts to protect sexual health at the beginning of the 21st century. In this paper we present original analyses of sexual behaviour data from 59 countries for which they were available.
