The folks at AllAboutWater.org have some interesting facts to share about water, including, “An estimated 25 percent or more of bottled water is really just tap water in a bottle—sometimes further treated, sometimes not.”
A case in point, Coca-Cola advertises its Dasani brand of bottled water as “pure, still water.” Turns out it ain’t so. The Coke folks are now under investigation for misleading buyers about “the true nature” of its bottled water. There are no natural springs involved here; Coca-Cola had actually been filling its Dasani bottles with purified tap water. The tap water is not bad for you, but it’s also a long way from that country spring that you imagine yourself enjoying.
This is one interesting item in many on the site about the liquid that makes up 70% of an adult body. Links include:

Save your money and avoid buying into the bottled water hype. Tap is just fine. Here’s a little expose from Mark Sisson on the latest water scams: “oxygenated” and “living” water. Yeah, right.

Whenever I read these articles about needing to drink 8 glasses of H2O daily, I point people to:

Some people get so fanatical about drinking 8 glasses of H2O daily. I once worked with someone like this. I’m lucky if I drink 1-3 independent glasses of H2O daily and I don’t feel thirsty or dehydrated. I do eat a good deal of fruit and vegetables daily though. When I’m thirsty, I drink.
I am curious about eliminating the chlorine in the shower. Is there any science to back up the value of doing this or just the usual home spun tales?
I also take the whole “8 glasses a day” with a grain of salt. Everyone’s body is different and your diet will greatly affect how much water you need. Having said that, “drink a glass of water” is rarely bad advice. It’s very easy to walk around a little dehydrated, especially if it’s your status quo, but it’s very hard to over hydrate so it’s kind of a no-brainer to err on the side of having a glass.
Wade: What is “a little dehydrated”? Is that like 10% under optimal hydration? Is there a personal hydration meter we should all be using? Maybe a pinch test? How does one recognize that they are “a little dehydrated” if they are not thirsty?
Check your pee. It should be almost clear.
