Twiggy

- I guess you like the idea of being constantly sick, tired, cold and hungry.

- I guess that you won’t mind becoming introvert and anti-social.

- I guess you want to be alone and scared.

- I guess you want to obsess over every calorie you consume.

- I guess you don’t care that malnutrition can cause permanent damage to your reproduction organs, which could prevent you from having children in the future.

- I guess you don’t mind staying awake all night because you’re too hungry to fall asleep.

- I guess you think pale and yellowish skin is attractive.

- I guess it doesn’t bother you that starvation can damage vital organs such as the brain and heart.

- I guess you don’t care about the risk of irregular heart rhythms and heart failure.

- I guess you won’t mind getting soft downy hair on face, back and arms.

- I guess the looks people give you, the sharp looks, wouldn’t bother you at all.

- I guess you won’t mind being dead..

Anorexia has the highest mortality rate of all mental disorders. A woman with anorexia is 12 times more likely to die than a woman her age without an eating disorder. Individuals with bulimia risk severe electrolyte imbalances, kidney disturbances, heart problems, and other serious life threatening medical complications.

This could have been more tastefully done. But you chose to instead be sarcastic.

  2. Wade says:

You are correct on both counts. You will find sarcasm and humor here in large doses. I try to keep my tongue planted firmly in my cheek.

  3. rabbit says:

Sometimes sarcasm and being blunt about it is the only way to get the message through!

  4. Juliet says:

Anorexia and bulimia are NOT choices. No one chooses to have an eating disorder or any of its consequences. You need more compassion and understanding before you open your mouth, child.

  5. hannah says:

You obviously dont know anything about people with eating disorders. You’re not putting any message across, just laughing at people suffering from an illness!

  6. Bella says:

Wade, you’re an idiot. People can’t choose to become anorexic, just like people can’t choose to become schizophrenic. Anorexic is a disease, not a choice, and you’re a jerk for using sarcasm to poke fun at people with that disorder. I am sad that someone would actually sink low enough to make fun of someone with an eating disorder. You obviously haven’t ever had to deal with someone suffering from anorexia before. The next time you decide to write something, I suggest you don a bit of research first, and exercise a bit of compassion. You hurt a lot of people with this article, me being one of them.

  7. brittani says:

you are a moron. you didn’t need to be all sarxastic like that.. you have no idea wtf you’re tlkng about. and btw. twiggy is amazing..

  8. melanie says:

so besides all of the reasons that everyone else has posted, Twiggy wasn’t anorexic. So having a picture of her above your piece is sortof an insult. In fact back in the sixties, when Twiggy was popular and people started to have negitive outlooks on how thin she was, and how much of an influence she was on young girls she tried to stuff her face with all kinds of food trying to buld up. She had a really high metabolism, though.

    She was just naturally thin.

AND, she is now really involved with helping people with eating disorders.

    poor picture choice.

  9. JO says:

u should really think before u open up ur trap u know! ur so damn tactless..u dnt understand the first thing bout people who have ED or what its about!

  10. LC says:

Twiggy wasn’t anorexic, get your facts straight. Some people are naturally skiiny, or sometimes they have health issues that just happen to make them thinner than most. Whoever wrote this is ignorant.

  11. t says:

how dare you poke fun at people who have eating disorders. it’s not a choice, it’s just something that happens. using all that sarcasm and bluntness just makes you sound like a jerk, it doesn’t help you prove a point. you need to be more compassionate about this kind of stuff.

by the way, Twiggy wasn’t anorexic-she was naturally thin. she tries to help people with eating disorders. you should never have used her picture. Twiggy is an amazing person, while you are just a rude, insensitive jerk.

  12. jess says:

This is the most disgusting thing I have ever read. People do not want to have anorexia, or any form of eating disorder for that matter. People with anorexia deeply wish they did not have it, but they cannot help it. It is a heart breaking psychological illness. You are clearly a bitter, unaware individual. I suggest you deal with your own problems before you make sarcastic comments about a serious issue.
