These videos are really fantastic. I don’t really think that it is education for some and entertainment for others who already know better, I consider this an innovative way to adapt a critical message to local customs and performance styles in India. Considering that India lies on the brink of a pandemic, it is great to see that relevant prevention campaigns have been spawned. In places like South Africa, it has taken thousands dead to recognize that HIV prevention is more effective than reacting to a crisis.

I’m sorry, but that condom commercial sound funny to me…a bit painful, but funny in my head. I’d probably cringe at first but laugh shortly after.

This has nothing to do with the post, but I lvoe the trunk monkey commercials.

Hey Scott, valid point. I agree that condom usage and HIV/AIDs awareness are very important issues. And it seems that these videos are getting the message through for to villagers in Southern India which is great. And you have to admit the music and dance are kind of addictive.

You know, it’s possible that anyone who watches these videos for comic relief could also end up picking up a message or two through the repetitiveness of the words

Didn’t mean to upset anyone – as the last words of my post indicate – education for some, entertainment for others. No reason why education and entertainment can’t combine.

I’d have to say, I much prefer these videos compared to some that I ran across when researching this post. For example, one video had the guy continually slamming the car door on his penis to prove that there is no feeling when wearing a competitors condom…where’s the education or even entertainment there – only pure stupidity…

Anyway, thanks Scott for commenting…it’s always nice to know what people are thinking.

You know, I’m all about comic relief and have a very open sense of humor but there is no funny or fun side to issues like this especially when trying to press the issues on youth. If it gets the message though then great but there are going to be so many out there that look at things like this in a novelty manner.

I’m not criticizing you for posting this liz, just making a statement.
