Ditch the cell phone and save the sperm.

Hey guys. Looks like that cell phone might be causing some havoc with your sperm.
A new study of 361 men conducted by an infertility clinic in Cleveland has found that there seems to be an association between cell phone use and sperm quality.
Preliminary findings of this study indicate that the longer you’re on the phone, the lower the sperm count and of those sperm that stick around, there is a greater percentage of abnormal sperm.
These findings, however, do not prove that cell phones somehow damage sperm. As lead researcher Dr Ashok Agarwal says “We can only infer from our results that heavy cell phone use…is associated with a lower semen quality.”
Two further studies are underway. One study is looking at the effect of electromagnetic radiation from cell phones on semen samples. The other study focuses on a larger group of men and look at not only cell phone use but other lifestyle habits and occupational exposures that also might affect sperm quality.
Meanwhile, anyone working on making a baby might consider ditching the cell phone just in case.

Correlation does not imply causation!
The lead research said himself, “Our results show a strong association of cell phone use with decreased semen quality. However, they do not prove a cause-and- effect relationship.”
Maybe the people who have low sperm counts use cell phones more.
Good point. It’s a bit like the age old question - what came first -the chicken or the egg’. Whether the men involved in the study had low sperm count before they started using cell phones isn’t known…
