Freaky Cravings and Naughty Indulgences: Let’s Discuss

This article on MSNBC caught my eye. (Probably because I’m teetering on the brink of Slim Down for Summer mode. Sound familiar?)

The article exposes some of the weirdest cravings and food combos I’ve seen yet. Peanut butter and yellow mustard? Come on! But as odd as that is, I’m willing to bet you Healthbolt readers can one-up this by a long shot. So to break up the monotony of the week, let’s engage in lively conversation centering around my favorite subject…food!

    I’ll go first: The wacky indulgence that I still crave to this day is fried mozzarella sticks dipped in instant mashed potatoes and gravy – from the hospital cafeteria!! Odd, I know. Please don’t judge. ;)

    The obsession started in high school, lasted the entire 5 years I worked at the hospital, and a few (ahem) years later, I still have fits for this heart-healthy concoction. Classy.

    Sorry, can’t really add to this. My most extreme food mixture – apples with salt or prehaps cheese and potato chip sandwiches…not very exciting!!!

    I can’t think of any really weird food combos I crave, but I do tend to make odd meal choices when I’m by myself. Case in point – I just ate a breakfast of leftover Brussels sprouts with some red curry paste. :)

    I have quite the penchant for mayo and peanut butter sandwiches–imparted to me from a successful Bostonian chef. Being a vegetarian (who obviously has no issues with eggs and milk) I’m willing to stretch culinary credulity in search of palatable sandwiches.

    The combination is actually something that I believe most people would find rather good–as long as you only use the lightest of touches of mayo.

    1.Peanut butter and dorito sandwiches

    2.tuna,oatmeal,beans and figs all in one bowl

    3.Yellow mustard and vanilla ice cream

    Get one of those giant dill pickles, cut it in half and scoop out some of the insides (so it resembles a cup). Pour in grape Kool-Aid. Drink & nibble! It’s actually REALLY good. :)
