Give Us Your Opinions on the Exercise Pill

By now it’s darn likely you’ve heard of this new exercise pill. You know, the one that essentially tricks your bod into thinking it’s worked out when it hasn’t.

Now, in my dream world, this seems like just the ticket. After all, who has time to keep up with a regular exercise regime, right? And isn’t the whole point of modern medicine to make life better for all? And wouldn’t skipping exercise in lieu of a pill make everyone happy?

Um, maybe not.

The more I thought about this, the worse of an idea it became to me. Would there be any of that “exercise high” or stress relief that most of us get when we do go through with a real, live workout? Would we become a nation of sloth and laziness, spending what would have been our “healthy time” in front of the tube or consuming more products that will put us further into debt? Will we expect a pill for every single less-than-pleasant task that we, as humans, are expected to engage in from time to time?

I think the very notion of any of these things is disturbing enough to put up a giant red flag on this new superinvention.

But that’s just me. What about you? What do you think of the idea of an exercise pill? Let us know…

Ahh…another ‘magic’ pill. I love it! And it “Tricks” your body into thinking it’s working out. That is all too funny. Does it also trick your mind in to thinking you’re 6′2″ and 250 lbs? No doubt this will soon be thrown in with the “Perfomance enhancing substance” pool.

My question is what are the side effects, both mentally and physically? Short term and long term? We all know the side effects of steroids and HGH, so what kind of side effects does this produce? What are the upside of things as oppsoed to the down sides?

A lot of the time the “Time issue” that people face could be spent just 30 minutes to an hour a day of NOT watching TV or surfing the internet for the new short cut to fitness. Honestly, if everyone that was looking for the easy way out to weight loss and fitness, spent less time looking for it and used that time to work on the problem, with time it could pay off.

I’m all about finding an easier more efficient way to work and get things done, but health and fitness is not one of those ‘jobs’ that has easy short-cuts to become a more fit and healthy you.

Well said on all accounts, Scott. Totally agreed!

Well if they are searching the internet ans learning about new exercises and actually using them, then there is no problem. It’s the ones that are searching for all the short-cuts, the next ab machine, the next pill that makes them poop more and eat less, drops their water weight and temporarily tricks them into thinking that they are losing weight. It’s getting ridiculous.

  5. I’m just upset that so much money is being spent on research programs that are developing these kinds of things. The sad thing is that side effects of these things sometimes don’t manifest for a number of years – then it’s “oh well”.

  6. I don’t understand why anyone would WANT to take a pill to replace exercise! If your exercise time isn’t fun for you then switch it up. Go hiking, get on a trampoline, visit the gymnastics center and jump in the foam pit, wrestle with your girlfriend. Whatever. I don’t see exercise as a time consumer but an enjoyable activity that I make more time to take part in.

Would anyone take a sex pill? Sometimes it’s about the actual experience and not just the outcome.
