This is known as priaprism and lasts greater than 4 hours, by definition. It's painful, but I imagine not as painful as the fracture you described. Some of those ED drugs can cause this disorder, along with a few other drugs with this unfortunate side effect. There is a cure, that is non-sexual, once you are in the ER.
