Healthbolt Giveaway: Win a ChiWalking or ChiRunning Book and DVD.

Are you a walker or a runner?

Me, I’m a walker.

Whenever the weather’s good, I head for the beach, the park, or the forest to walk for an hour or two. I have no technique – I simply put one foot in front of the other. I thought that’s all I needed to do to get fit and healthy.

But having spent a little time reading up about ChiWalking, I’m starting to change my mind. Walking should be much more than simply one foot in front of the other.

ChiWalking is a unique program that utilizes the principles and orientation as Yoga, Pilates, and T’ai Chi to help people work with core muscles, integrate the mind and body, and focuse on overall and long term performance and well-being.

Now, I haven’t had a chance to try out the ChiWalking program but I’m seriously thinking about it.

And you can too if you enter in for a chance to win either a ChiWalking Book and DVD or a ChiRunning Book and DVD. Healthbolt has one of each to give away.

chi_walking_healthbolt The ChiWalking Book and DVD offers a ‘menu’ of 12 different types of walks to choose from, each of which acts to improve a specific aspect of your mind-body health. Other topics covered include to how to develop a personalized walking program, hiking, diet, treadmill workouts, pre-walk loosening exercises, post-walk stretches and great tips for maintaining a continual freshness in your walking regimen.

chi_running_healthbolt The ChiRunning Book and DVD that looks at how to run properly and prevent the pain and injury often associated with running. You’ll be given instruction on race training, trail running, interval training, and endurance running as well as diet and nutrition for peak performance.

So back to my original question – are you a walker or a runner? Which Book and DVD do you want?

Leave a comment with your answer before 15th December and you might just come away a winner.

It’s only open to US Residents.

The winners will be announced on 16th December and sent an email with the subject heading ‘Healthbolt Giveaway Winner’ with instructions on how to claim their prize.

And don’t forget it’s ‘everyday a giveaway’ this month at Healthbolt.

  1. Sarah says:

I was a runner until my pain got really bad. Then my doctor told me that I had to start walking and doing “low impact” stuff instead. I am SO bored by walking, and think that maybe a change in mindset could help me not go crazy walking.

  2. Jim says:

    I run Tues/Thurs/Sat and walk Mom/Wed/Fri – I’d love to have either.

  3. thinnmann says:

I am a runner and cyclist. That is for training. But I walk too. Barefoot preferred! Very Chi. Thanks!

  4. ella says:

I’m a walker and I have chronic neck pain. I would love a book/CD that could show me how to be more aware of my movements !

  5. Mubina says:

I used to be a runner until my knee pain came back. I had to go through physical therapy because of the pain. It went away for a few years but it is back again. Until it gets better, I’m not allowed to run. But walking will help with the pain and will help increase physical activity. I would love the walking Book & DVD so I can learn the best form of Walking. If someone else wins that, I wouldn’t mind the Running Book & DVD for when my knee gets better.

  6. Brooke says:

One of my friends swears by the ChiRunning. It has really helped his knee problems and still allows him to enjoy his sport. Sounds like a plan to me!!

  7. bdaiss says:

I’m a runner AND a walker. Just depends on the day. So if I had to pick, I’d go for the walking DVD. Because then I can share it with a friend who is just starting to get into physical activity. And what better gift than a walking buddy!

  8. asithi says:

I am a walker. Since my car accident, I like to stick with low impact aerobics for cardio.

  9. Tina O. says:

How interesting-I am a walker. I don’t run unless being chased.

  10. Lisa oram says:

I am mostly a walker – and have done some indoor walking programs that sound a bit like this program. I have also recently started running, and I can do a little more than a mile at this point. I would be happy with either gift – the walking would breathe some new life into my old routines, and the running would help me improve and stay healthy as I learn something new.

    Thanks!

  11. Karin says:

I walk–every day……with the dog. Need to walk more though–

    *ChiWalking Book and DVD

  12. Matthew says:

I also had to give up running because of knee pain. I walk two miles everyday and still feel as great as I do when I was running. The only difference is there is no more pain.

  13. Cindi says:

What a fascinating concept! I have to deal with knee pain and would love to give this walking a try. Please enter me in your drawing. Many thanks, Cindi

  14. Dree says:

I’m a walker. My husband and I walk each night. I’d like the Chi Walker.

  15. Stefan says:

I’m most definitely a runner. I have been toying with the idea of barefoot running (well, with Vibrams, I don’t trust my neighbors) and ChiRunning.

  16. Anna says:

I LOVE running… and have been running since I was a teenager. But I am ridiculously injury-prone. Perhaps Chi Running could help me run injury free. Please pick me! :-)

  17. Kristen says:

I’m a walker, when I make the time. I’d like the Chi Walking DVD, to hopefully motivate me to walk more often!

  18. Joan says:

I am a walker and would love a book like that. Thanks for the giveaway!

  19. keyalus says:

I’m a runner and I would love to have this! I’ve heard good things about ChiRunning. I’ve managed to avoid injury so far but that might just be from dumb luck. :)

  20. Julie H says:

I am a runner! It’s hard, but yields great results

  21. Ria says:

I am a walker & I’d love to have this – it sounds really interesting.

  22. Christine says:

:) fun. I’m a runner. I’d love the chi running dvd. I’ve always been timid about trail running and interval training. This might help.

  23. Jennifer says:

I’m a walker all the way! I’ve never been very good at running, even when I was younger!

  24. Cynthia says:

Totally a walker! I have had bad ankles since I was young. Plus I injured a knee in high school and am now diagnosed with plantar fasciitis. I can’t imagine that running would ever be very safe for me… even the impact in water aerobics can get to me.

But I love walking and am sure I’d love the walking book and DVD! I took a Tai Chi course once and really enjoyed it. But no courses in my rural area.

  25. Heather says:

I used to be a runner until I gained too much weight and ended up with shin-splints. Now I’m a walker and I’d love the book and DVD. Thanks for hosting this contest.

  26. suganthi says:

I cannot walk fast, so I classify myself a runner. I break into a jog even at 4 mph. I do enjoy running although I can only do it with Cardiocoach audio workouts ( which are fabulous and absolutely the best). I started running for improving my health, but now I find it essential for stress-relief. I would likw the Chi DVD to improve my running and remain injury-free. Thanks.

  27. SarahC says:

I’ve checked this out from the library enough times; they would probably be grateful if I got my own copy.

  28. Kelly Hensley says:

I actually just healed a stress fracture I got in my foot from starting a 5k program. Would love to learn how to work in tandem with my body! Will def check this program out!

  29. jkr says:

In the past year, I’ve gone from “morbidly obese” to merely “overweight,” and now I’m trying to increase activity/exercise levels. Running’s still out of the question; even walking still gives me knee and back pain, but I want to walk a lot more. The ChiWalking book looks very helpful.

  30. Cleo says:

I’m going to say I’m in between runner and walker. I was doing Couch to 5K until it got too cold outside.
