Researchers First To Map Gene That Regulates Adult Stem Cell Growth – Science Daily
The researchers genetically mapped a stem cell gene and its protein product, Laxetin, and building on that effort, carried the investigation all the way through to the identification of the gene itself. This is the first time such a complete study on a stem cell gene has been carried out. This particular gene is important because it helps regulate the number of adult stem cells in the body, particularly in bone marrow.

The vote was 255-170 in favor of the bill, including some two dozen Republicans. Those supporting the measure ignored a veto threat from President Bush.

Researchers at King’s College London followed 1,000 people in New Zealand from birth to the age of 32. A third of those who were maltreated had high levels of inflammation – an early indicator of conditions such as heart disease and diabetes.
